Fall Jeans try-on: 7 favorites

What to do when you don’t know what style of jeans fits you best? Try them ALL on!

I am looking to add a pair or two of non-skinny jeans to my wardrobe this fall, so I did what I always recommend to clients when they need something specific: Order a bunch of pairs and try them on at home. It saves you tons of time driving from place to place and allows you to try them on when you feel up to it.

Check out my IG video of me trying on 7 pairs that I chose in a variety of brands and price points. Most of them will need a hem so in some cases I flipped the denim under so you can get a sense of what they look like at the correct length!

Details and links for each pair below.

  1. Kut from the Kloth Rachael Fab Ab high rise mom jeans - these run big so I went down one size. Love the double holes in knees for weekends. The mom jean fit needs a fitted top or can look sloppy. The 20-somethings wear crop tops but most of us older than that can do cropped-ish (no belly) or tucked tops without much volume. Bonus with these: If I want them shorter, I can just cut the raw hem. In fact, you can do that on any of the jeans featured as raw hems are super of the moment!

2. Wit and Wisdom “Absolution” high-rise Itty-Bitty Boot - these also run big so I went down one size. Since I’m short (5’3”) the “itty bitty boot” will basically disappear when I hem them (they are rolled under in the video) so I decided I’d prefer a true bootcut jean.

3. Paige Laurel Canyon high rise bootcut jeans - true to size - very long length and and high rise with no “help” in the tummy area (you’ll see me look at my belly with concern in the video!)

4. AG Farrah high waist fray hem bootcut jeans - true to size - for the price, they weren’t magical on me.

5. Good American Good Classic raw hem bootcut jeans - true to size - These were so ridiculously long you can see in the video I rolled up one hem so you could see how much extra fabric was there. Great for tall, curvy ladies, these promise no waist gap!

6. Joe’s The Hi Honey high waist bootcut - true to size - flattering on the bum but tight on my waist and very long.

7. Mother Frayed Flare jeans - true to size - I like the 10” rise vs. 10.5-11” on many other high rise jeans - they work better for me as I am 5’3” and short waisted - a shorter zipper holds me in a bit. I found the ‘M’ on the bum flattering. Love these!!!
